The Township of Washington holds a unique place in history. The Seven Chimneys house located atop a small hill has been said that George Washington stayed at this house during the Revolutionary War and is the oldest house in the township. The township also houses Schlegel Lake, providing its members exclusive rights to use the pond and surrounding property. Members can enjoy fishing, boating, picnicking and observing nature. There are two fields located throughout the town which includes ball fields and playgrounds. There are four excellent elementary schools and a middle school and one high school.
